Employment Policy

We recognise that as a result of apartheid and other discriminatory laws and practices, there are disparities in employment, occupation and income within the national labour market.  We also believe it is our duty and responsibility to educate and encourage new entrants in the job market and existing people within the job market to have an attitude of constant self improvement.  This requires a great deal of self motivation and a complete departure from an entitlement attitude which started to plague job markets in many countries.  It is a privilege to have a job, not an entitlement.  Those who work very hard in getting the right skills, demonstrating their commitment and loyalty, and consistently improving themselves are the ONLY people that should have jobs.  Anyone else is just tagging along for the ride and will never never contribute to the employment ecosystem we all should strive to.

Therefore, in order to promote the constitutional right of equality and the exercise of true democracy the NETCB has committed itself to:

  • eliminate unfair discrimination in employment
  • ensure the implementation of employment equity in terms of our philosophy to redress the effects of discrimination

Whilst the aforementioned aims are of primary importance to NETCB, the quality of service to clients will not be sacrificed in achieving the said aims. NETCB has therefore undertaken to employ only suitably qualified personnel regardless of their race, gender and/or political/religious or sexual persuasion.

Any prospective employee will be interviewed by the Board of Directors by invitation, who will evaluate the prospective employee on the following criteria:

  •  Experience with regard to the position the prospective employee has applied for
  • Formal training (degrees and/or diplomas)
  • Personality
  • Suitability for the position the prospective employee applied for
  • If the prospective employee lacks formal training and/or experience, but is in all other respects suitable for the particular position, whether training initiated by the Company will remedy the lack of formal training and/or experience.

Any employee will first work a trial period of three months, during which period the employee will be evaluated further, and if the work performance of the particular employee is to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors, the employee will be appointed on a permanent basis on the terms and conditions stipulated in the NETCB’s standard employment contract.

The NETCB undertakes to adhere at all times to the provisions of the Labour Relations Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Employment Equity Bill, in so far as they are applicable.
